The Front Porch Story

When your front porch needs beautifying and updating… and the old storm door needs replacing for all the reasons that a 70-year-old door usually needs replacing, you add this project to your home improvement list.

Beginning with the storm door replacement proved to be both beneficial and somewhat disconcerting.

When we ordered a Provia Superview storm door in Cabernet, I expected it to have the deep, rich hue of a red wine. However, once installed, the door proved to be of excellent quality but significantly brighter and more vibrant than we had anticipated. Initially, I considered repainting it or exchanging it. Nevertheless, the factory finish was impeccable, and replacing the door due to my own error would incur considerable expense. Consequently, we decided to adapt to this unexpected predicament.

Sometimes adapting is hard, but experience has taught us that it is not unusual to come up with delightfully serendipitous solutions, especially when you are patient and don’t give up too soon.

Let us know if you agree.

And as it turns out, we now think the door’s color is perfect!
